Living Life Poetically: Re”New”ed

Millions of people around the world celebrate the New Year at the beginning of spring. Snow has mostly melted. Meanwhile, there’s fresh vegetation and leaves on tree branches. In a way, nature is renewed.

The poem, Re “new” ed, is about a renewal of self. Whether you celebrate the New Year in January or in March, may your year be refreshed and revitalized as with nature.

I had lost my way,
Then found my compass within me.

Re “new” ed day by day,
But thought joy had eluded me.

It seemed all was lost,
A captive never to be free.
From the despairs
That cease life to be.

But then I saw hope in the dark
With my eyes closed.
Defiantly, it stood there
Despite having been disposed.

Defiantly it stood there,
Forcing my spirits high.

Whether in the valley or mountain top,
I already touch the sky.
