Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
If you were to look up the word faith in the dictionary, you’ll find something along the lines of having complete trust and confidence in someone or something. It’s both present and future-oriented. While this quote from Hebrew 11:1 gives us a definition along the same lines, it adds another layer. It elaborates on the someone or something, describing them as “things we do not see” and “things we hope for”. For instance, we cant see the future, but having faith means having complete trust that it’ll turn out well.
Having faith, or complete trust, is not easy. But the more assured and confident we are in faith, the more grounded our hope for the future.
