Living Life Poetically: To All Haters, Thank You
In life, not everyone is going to like you. That is a given. Sometimes it’s because of jealousy, insecurity, or maybe because you happen to look (or were born) a certain way. Whatever the reason, hardly any of us can go through life without indirectly or directly crossing paths with a “hater.”
So then what? Well, two things can happen:
- Unfortunately, haters can have a negative impact on your life. Besides not being genuinely excited for your success, they can actually stand in the way of it given the opportunity.
- However, on the other hand, overcoming the challenges and adversity they create can also make you stronger. Their stumbling blocks can become stepping stones.
So, a hater can either bring you down and stand in the way, or they can lift you up by forcing you to find your way. “To All Haters, Thank You,” is a poem about the latter. It’s about the fact that haters can push us to persevere, overcome, and be even stronger than we might have been without them. Let’s not lose sight of this potential they carry. And for that, they can be thanked.
To All Haters, Thank You

To all haters, thank you,
Because every time you knock me down,
I come up stronger.
To all haters, thank you,
Because whenever you tell me I can’t,
I realize that, yes, I can.
To all haters, thank you,
Because every time you block my way,
I learn to create new and better paths.
To all haters, thank you,
Because whenever you try to make me feel “less than,”
I dig deep and discover “more than” I ever dreamed.
To all haters, thank you,
Because every time God sees oppression,
He gives the strength and ability to withstand.
