“No wind favors he who has no destined port.”

If a boat doesn’t have a specific destination or port, it doesn’t really matter where the wind blows. Moreover, there’s no need to steer it in any particular direction because there is no destination.
This quote comes from French Renaissance philosopher, Michel de Montaigne (aka Michel Eyquem). It reminds us that without a clear destination, we’re like a boat without any port. Without a clear destination, we get the sense that the things that happen in our lives don’t appear to lead us anywhere. Furthermore, our actions feel uninspired by direction.
So let’s find our ports if we haven’t already. Or, maybe, we only need to remind ourselves where they are.
