“What we fear doing most is usually what we most need to do.”
This quote, by Tim Ferriss, serves as a great reminder that your fears may be holding you back. This idea is nothing new. Yes, fear can hold you back from doing things. However, this quote gives a deeper meaning to the concept. Unfortunately, with fear, you’re usually not held back from doing the things that don’t really matter. In other words, it doesn’t usually keep you from doing things that have little to no consequence. Fear, instead, has an uncanny way of attaching itself to the things you need to do most– the things that matter most.
Although the correlation between fear and the things you need to do most is unsettling, it can also be motivating. You can find the motivation to do the things you most fear, knowing that they are usually going to be more important and impactful.
