Thought of the Day

“Don’t be upset when people reject you. Nice things are rejected all the time by people who can’t afford them.”

Rejection can be hard to bear, and harder for some than others. It also has the unfortunate side effect of eroding one’s self-esteem. Again, more so for some than others. The irony in how upsetting rejection is for someone is that it’s more upsetting if they already suffer from low self-esteem. Therefore, each rejection can further erode their already low self-esteem, which then makes their self-esteem more susceptible to further erosion in the next instances of rejection. The vicious cycle continues.

This anonymous quote responds to rejection with unapologetic confidence and sass. But beyond its cheeky humor, there’s some truth. Rather than rejection making you feel “less worthy”, consider your innate worth as a unique individual on this planet. Such a priceless value shouldn’t be wasted on those who reject you anyway.
