Why the Serenity Prayer Should be a Part of Your Every Day
Life can bring a lot of worries and concerns that interfere with our peace of mind.
E. Ballay
This is a no-brainer statement that even our very first ancestors would have to agree with. However, they probably wouldn’t agree that the level and nature of our worries and concerns are the same.

We’ve literally invented ways to carry around our worries and concerns PLUS other negative stimuli with us. With an increasingly fast-paced world, emails, instant messaging, and smart devices that are always “on”, we always have to be “on.”
–Always ready, always anxious.
However, peace of mind is something we naturally need to have more of in our lives. Ironically, despite technological advances, we are not making attaining it much easier.
So, how do we maintain a consistent level of peace in the midst of all the noise around us?
One way is through prayer. Interestingly, praying to the giver of life itself has a way of simplifying life itself.
If what you are praying for is peace, and you happen to be unsure where to begin, look no further than “The Serenity Prayer”.
The Serenity Prayer
GOD, grant me the serenity
Karl Paul Reinhold Niebuhr, cir.1926
to accept the things
I cannot change,
Courage to change the
things I can, and the
wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship as the
pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this
sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make
all things right if I
surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy
in this life, and supremely
happy with Him forever in
the next.
Amen
If it has to be one of those quick mental prayers like you might have on your way to work, memorize and hone in on the first two verses. However, meditate on the full prayer as often as you can.
Read, reflect, and restore.
